MEMORY LOSS, DEMENTIA, AND ALZHEIMER’S

The Savvy Caregiver™ Series is an award-winning set of educational programs indispensable for anyone caring for someone with memory loss, dementia, or Alzheimer’s disease. By understanding memory loss, learning practical skills, and gaining competence and confidence, you can create a better life for yourself as well as your loved one.

Taking care of someone is usually not a job anyone ever signs up for. Most people don’t realize that there are special skills that can be learned to manage the daily caregiving tasks as well as take care of yourself. Over the past decade, HealthCare Interactive has developed programs to give you that training, taking you from skills you need to know in the early stages of memory loss to deciding when it’s time to place your loved one in a residential care facility. HCI’s companion series for professionals, the CARES Online Dementia Care Training Series, ensures continuity of care when moving to assisted living or other residential facilities.

Savvy Caregiver "Homework" CD-ROM

In each of the Savvy Caregiver DVD sessions, the instructor asks you to complete an assignment on the "homework" CD-ROM. Approximately 2 hours in length, the homework program runs on a PC/Windows or Macintosh computer. It’s not required that you complete the CD-ROM as part of the Savvy Caregiver educational program, but doing so will help you personalize and adapt your caregiving strategies over time.

The Savvy Homework CD-ROM can also be used as a standalone resource. Match your caregiving and activity strategies with where your loved one is on the memory loss continuum.
  • Learn how to complete a memory loss assessment (includes interactive video examples).
  • Discover specific strategies to use at each of the various stages of dementia.
  • Explore the innovative interactive resource allowing you to get strategies for any of 14 topic areas at each of 7 levels of thinking decline. Click on a "down one level" button, and see how strategies will change for your loved one as their thinking declines further.
  • Watch more than 1 hour of video advice from professionals on the most common caregiver issues for families and friends.
