CARES® Program Officially Recommended by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
BALTIMORE, MD-August 12, 2011. HealthCare Interactive® is very pleased to announce that the CARES® online dementia care training programs have been named one of only three dementia-care programs nationally recommended by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to meet its new national nursing aide training requirements (part of Section 6121 of the Affordable Care Act mandates for enhanced nursing aide training).
Section 6121 of the Affordable Care Act is designed to enhance skills of nurse aides in the areas of caring for residents with dementia and preventing resident abuse. As a way of determining training programs that meet these requriements, CMS awarded a contract with Chenega Government Consulting, LLC, who provided a list of recommended programs. CARES was the only online training program to be identified during this process to mee the dementia care component of this mandate.
